Just finished 2 exams this week that didn't go very well. I haven't even started the lit review, but at least I have a better idea about what to do now. So far I'm pretty pleased with my English class, I'm enjoying it more then last quarter and am able to learn more. Anyway time to start this lit review.

So Far....
So, This is my first blog post on my own, to pretty much explain how I'm feeling right now about this paper and life in general. So far it has been a rocky start and I already have made mistakes I wish I could change. I could have spent more time and learned the formats better to receive a better grade on the proposal and annotation, but there is definitely revisions I will need to make. Other than that this whole thing is scary to me, no homo. English is by far not my strong subject and I just struggle with what to write. I know it will be hard, but that's life. I'm just stressing right now about my grades and other classes as well, so there is my life.

Proposal
Kyle Long
English Proposal
In 2010 Tiger Woods Made made over $90 millions, LeBron James made over $45 million, and Alex Rodriguez made over $35 millions. You aren’t alone if you question how this can be possible and how fair this is. Professional athletes being overpaid is a major problem that effects nearly everyone. The major argument is that professional athletes get paid way to much to play a game while they are making millions more then people that actually work hard and have real jobs. The concept is that anyone else would play these things for free, while these people are making multimillion dollars to do it. Another reason this became such an issue is people realized that some of these athletes are being paid more the people with jobs that actually benefit the society, like doctors or surgeons, that save lives. This could have been caused by many things, but one specific cause is society and the people who support the athletic events and the teams. A reasonable explanation to why they get paid so much can be simply related to the idea of supply and demand. The demand of gas increasing leads to gas prices increasing. The demand of professional sports leads to ticket prices and athletes salaries increasing. They became so popular because so many people watch them and are entertained by them; I honestly don’t know what the world would be like if professional sports didn’t exist. Personally I enjoy watching sports and agree they are entertaining, but also agree that the athletes are being overpaid. This problem is only going to get worse with time and if it doesn’t get solved it can lead to even more controversy and economical problems.
Solving this problem would be nearly impossible. The obvious way to solve it would be to lower the athletes salaries, but it’s not that easy. Athletes would not agree to that and most argue that they should be paid more. Another reason it would be hard to solve is because that would mean all the fans would have to stop supporting the sports teams and athletes they love. Some other possible solutions would be to have an actually effective and reasonable salary cap or system that pays players based on performance.
Professional athletes excessive salary is a problem that needs handled or will get out of control. We need to change. Really it’s really in the hands of society, who partially caused the problem in the first place. There has to be a solution, not everyone may like it, but if it benefits society it should be done.
Thesis: While Professional athletes are paid significantly for their talents, they contribute little to making society better. Money spent on pro athletes could be better spent somewhere else.

English songs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAp9BKosZXs -Friday, Rebecca Black
This applies to me because it’s obviously Friday, and who doesn’t love Fridays? In addition, I chose this song because it’s the worst song I ever heard and is hilarious.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD2LRROpph0 -I Kissed a Girl, Katy Perry
I chose this song simply because when I kiss girls, I like it. Also, because my girlfriend came to visit me this Friday.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRpeEdMmmQ0 - Waka Waka, Shakira
This song is important to me because Shakira is my favorite singer, and this was the theme song for the 2010 World Cup for soccer, which is my favorite sport.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLyHWIXTrlI - Can Walk on Water
I picked this song because I like techno music and it reminds me of soccer season.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5Sd5c4o9UM -ET
This song is very girly, but for some reason it’s my favorite song.I always have it on repeat.

Essay Topics
So, I'm still not quite sure about what I'm going to write about so hopefully you guys can help me out.
My first option is to write about the effects of sports in childhood. I'd like to write about this because its something I am passionate about and would like to do more research on. It could also be useful in the future.
My second option is the argument of pro athletes being overpaid. I chose this because I find it to be an interesting topic I could write a lot about. I'd like to hear both sides of the argument and decide if I still feel the same way.
My last option is the argument of genetic engineering. I have always been interesting in the science field and this is a very controversial topic. I just want to find out more about it and why people are for and against in and take a side I feel is right.
Thanks, Kyle
