My response isn't going to go that in depth on the death of Osama Bin Laden due to the fact that it has been talked about nonstop on the news and by people ever since it has happened. I will say that the feeling I felt that night when they announced his death was something I haven't felt in a while maybe even ever. It was incredible to know that the man responsible for 9/11 was taken out finally. Nothing can take back 9/11, but this definitely unites and picks the spirits up of American citizens. I am concerned with what is next though. The leader may be dead, but the Taliban live on. Will it enrage and unite them for future terrorist attacks. I hope not. To me it's a start for more positive things to come.
Stepping aside from what we could talk about for days in world politics, and terrorism and everything else, since we are doing this for English class I wanted to talk about Obama's speeches. After every time of listening to an Obama speech he leaves me impressed. Now he currently makes me wonder how involved he is in writing his own speeches. I did some research and found he has a speech writing team led by Jon Favreau, who is only 23 years old. Imagine how much pressure must be on him. Writing a speech for the President of the United States, that millions would be listening to, acting on, and criticizing. Not only that they must give the speech a language and mood that fits the president himself. For that I give them credit along with the president.
Imagine the pressure: a bad speech (bad rhetoric?) can have far reaching implications. So much could go wrong...
